Great food; Great atmosphere; Great hidden jem! The food is delicious and authentic! I love the mix-use idea of having a Restaurant mixed with a mini Mexican Market and an Art Gallery! The food took WAY too long to come out, even after checking out the gallery wall and market. But it was so worth it! Amazing authentic mexican sauces, marinades and ingredients made my guest and I forget all about the wait, and left us with a great impression on a great establishment!

Absolutely fantastic and authentic Mexican food...

Absolutely fantastic and authentic Mexican food. We went there for a birthday, and at the end of the meal, the staff brought out cake and muffins for all at no charge, gave the birthday boy some tequila shots, and offered to take pictures of our party wearing sombreros and a full bottle of tequila. The drinks were pricy, but you get what you pay for for sure. Although the physical location is a little run down looking, don't let this keep you from eating here. We will be returning for sure!

Authentic Mexican food at an affordable price. A rare gem! I was on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant for over a year. It ended with me finding this restaurant. There might be a better place in Toronto that I don't know about, but other than downtown Toronto this is the best Mexican restaurant from (at least) here to Barrie. The Guacamole was a bit sour (too much lemon juice) but the homemade chips were awesome. The Cactus Enchiladas (Vegetarian) were sweet and delicious. Not a strange flavour at all. The Chicken Enchiladas is my favourite though, hands down. The first time I came to this restaurant the guy at the counter opened the containers and showed off the food for me. I thought that was a nice touch. He also called me 'amigo' a lot. He was very cool :) The restaurant itself looks a little run down and a mix between a specialty grocery store and a take out style restaurant. Usually Mexican music is playing and it creates a nice environment. I don't like going downtown for food since parking is usually an issue. Regardless, there's actually a fair number of spots to park nearby so it's not that big of a problem, especially at night. It's family owned and they're nice people. If you want Mexican, go here! You'll be keeping good people in business!

Authentic Mexican food, Think Mexican when you are ordering mild, medium or hot... Be specific with how much spice you can take. Their gucamole was amazing. Hard-to-find beers are served. Store front restaurant, priority is on the food not on the decor or atmosphere. Staff are friendly and are pleased when you try out your spanish! $60 incl tax and tip for 4 people with shared appetizers and 2 alcohol beverages

Wow, does this place rock. I lived for a while in the San Francisco Bay area and got used to great, inexpensive Mexican food that could be found in wonderful dives. Mex-I-Can is not really divey, but it is a BIT of a dive, but it rocks. The tacos are absolute perfection, and are EXACTLY what I got used to in California. The other stuff on the menu is fantastic too. The people who run the place are cool, nice people, who seem to enjoy what they are doing. With the possible exception of really expensive places that I don't go to, the best restaurant in the area.
