It’s a minor miracle that Steel Toad Brewpub even exists. And not because of anything to do with the pub itself, but rather the fact that despite the burgeoning craft beer scene in Vancouver, brewpubs are notoriously difficult to establish in this city. To their credit, the owners of Steel Toad plowed through all the red tape and in 2014 opened Vancouver’s first brewpub in 16 years. Housed in Southeast False Creek’s iconic red Opsal building, the pub is a polished but laid back place that offers live music or hockey viewing on game nights, with elevated pub fare alongside beer brewed directly within eyeshot.
